Welcome to the intertubes home of The Killing Tones.

Thanks to everyone who came along to Grand Central last Thursday night. Especially those we also saw on Sunday and Tuesday nights at the Leftover Crack shows, good effort to stave off the effects of your sleep deprivation and drag yourselves into Ponsonby. I was struggling. (How great were those shows by the way?) Breaking a bass string didn't help matters but as they say, wrong notes is more notes. Bargain.

It seems like a few people are learning the words now which is super duper rad. They must have treated themselves to a free copy of our eponymous EP. In BREAKING NEWS, some time in the New Year we're going to be recording a split EP with our handsome friends Dole Day Rage. Details are sketchy but it will involve some new songs (just need to write them) and each band covering at least one of the other band's songs (just need to learn them).

Here's a better idea - come see The Killing Tones and some other sweet punk bands at the Grand Central in Ponsonby (126 Ponsonby Rd, next to Murder Burger). Only $5!

Suckafish are braving the Kopu bridge and driving up from Tairua for the night (www.myspace.com/suckafishtfy). Streetpunx (with ois) Kaos and Riot are back from Tauranga (www.myspace.com/streetratz13). Some band I've never heard of called "The Jolly Monicas" will be there too, impress your friends with your underground credibility by being the first to know about them.

UPDATE: The Jolly Monicas are apparently an awesome surf rock band, shows what I know.

Go on, treat yourself, you've earned it.

Show this THURSDAY, EP update

Why hello there reader. Thanks for visiting.

We are playing this Thursday 22 October at Grand Central (126 Ponsonby Rd). If I had to guess I'd say we will be on at about 9:30pm. We actually had a practice yesterday and sounded pretty OK, so hopefully that carries on through to Thursday.

In the news, we finally recorded the lead vocals on the EP on Saturday. Now all that is required is a little tidying up and maybe some mixing and we'll be ready to start distributing it. I can confirm that it will be free in soft copy and cheap in hard copy (i.e. cassette, phonograph cylinder, 8-track, reel to reel magnetic tape, betamax digital audio, laser disc, mini disc, elcaset, and whatever else the kids are slamming along to nowadays). There will be 8 songs on it, not 9 as previously advertised. The 9th song will be locked in a vault to be buried under the new east stand at Eden Park for future generations to discover.

Stay tuned for more news, including a The Killing Tones appearance on an upcoming compilation album.

We played on Saturday night at the King Street Carnival and it was neat-o. Check out more photos below, taken by the irrepressible Sarah Wakeman. Thanks to Jeff, Sam, Bridgette and Aisha for inviting us into their home. And thanks to all the pretty girls, handsome boys and other less gender specific individuals for turning up. The Zig Zags and the KJs (www.myspace.com/thekayjays) played too and rolled out the hits.

Our next show is at Grand Central (126 Ponsonby Road) next Thursday 22 October with Dole Day Rage and Hysterror. We’re just about out of t-shirts, but will bring along what’s left in case anyone needs an injection of awesome in his or her wardrobe before summer.

The Killing Tones at Grand Central - Thursday, 22 October

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Thirsty Dog on Saturday night. Especially Kaos & Riot for coming up from Tauranga (the new EP is rad - pick it up from the band: www.myspace.com/streetratz13 ) and Ghost Echoes, who are sounding awesome and even managed to get the Shore Girls in attendance onto the dance floor. No thanks to Army Dave Rogan though, who convinced us to spend the door takings on Jagermeister.

We are playing at Grand Central (126 Ponsonby Road, next to Murder Burger) on Thursday, 22 October (the Thursday before Labour Day). Also on the dance card will be Riot Grrls HYSTERROR (www.myspace.com/hysterrorband) and punkers DOLE DAY RAGE (www.myspace.com/doledayrage).

Thirsty Dog Tomorrow Night

Dear The Killing Tones t-shirt owners (and others),

We are writing to remind you all that we will be playing the Thirsty Dog tomorrow night (Saturday 26 September). We would be most grateful if you would attend. Please bring your friends. We are totally down with [insert corporate sponsor] fashion week and sh*t, so have designed some snappy new outfits to mark this wonderful occassion.

In addition, we are playing a secret show somewhere in Auckland on Saturday, October 10. Rumours surrounding this show are plentiful, and so far include a bearded lady, a bouncy castle, and a Dodge Charger.

Thirsty Dog

The Killing Tones are playing next Saturday 26th September at the Thirsty Dog. Check out the multi-cultural Ghost Echoes with their revamped line up (30% more handsome www.myspace.com/ghostechoes) and Kaos and Riot (up from sunny Tauranga for the night www.myspace.com/streetratz13).

Only $5 if you get there before 9pm (we will be on shortly after that). Lots of good beers on tap and some rad tight punk music for a way lower price and with a way better view than any Green Day show you'll see this year.

There are also murmers about another show coming up in mid October. Keep your ear to the ground for that one...
